Functional Value
Our Environmental Life Cycle Business Model Canvas Definition of “Functional Value”
In the Environmental Life Cycle Business Model Canvas, “Functional Value” is considered to be the benefit that the product or service provides to the customer. This value is considered in the context of the entire life cycle of the product, from production to use and disposal.
During the manufacturing phase, value focuses on what specific benefits the product should provide to the customer and how these are realized during the production process. This may include quality, functionality, durability or other characteristics that determine the value of the product for the customer.
During the product’s useful life, the functional value is determined by its performance, reliability, efficiency and ease of use. At the end of its life cycle, the product also has a functional value that relates to how it can be disposed of or recycled. Products that are easily recyclable or otherwise make a positive contribution to the circular economy have a higher functional value as they help to conserve resources and reduce waste. This is examined in more detail in the “End of life cycle” section.
The analysis of functional value in the Environmental Life Cycle Business Model Canvas ensures that the product or service meets the requirements and expectations of customers and makes a positive contribution to environmental protection. By emphasizing functional value, companies can ensure that their products are sustainable and valuable to customers while minimizing environmental impacts.
