Our Environmental Life Cycle Business Model Canvas definition of “Distribution

In the Environmental Life Cycle Business Model Canvas, distribution is not viewed solely as the transportation of goods. Instead, aspects such as packaging, shipping, distance and weight of the goods are also carefully considered.

The transportation route takes into account the route that the goods take from the manufacturer to the customer. Various means of transportation such as truck, train, ship or plane are considered.

The way in which the goods are packaged also has an impact on the environment. Excessive packaging can lead to unnecessary waste, while environmentally friendly packaging materials such as recycled paper or biodegradable plastics can reduce the environmental impact.

The distance goods have to travel to reach the customer not only affects transportation costs, but also the environmental impact.

Heavier goods require more energy to transport and therefore cause higher emissions.
