Sustainable Business Model Canvas

A Sustainable Business Model Canvas is an adaptation of the traditional business model canvas that focuses on the integration of sustainability principles into a company’s business model. While the traditional business model canvas focuses mainly on financial aspects and value creation for stakeholders, the sustainable business model canvas also emphasizes environmental and social aspects.

A sustainable business model canvas consists of the same nine fields as a traditional business model canvas, but the elements are analyzed and optimized with regard to their impact on the environment, society and long-term sustainability in order to maximize positive social and ecological effects. Another difference lies in stakeholder involvement and transparency, as the sustainable model strives to involve all relevant stakeholders in decision-making processes and communicate transparently about activities and impacts. Overall, the sustainable business model canvas promotes a holistic view of the business model and motivates companies to shape their practices and decisions in a sustainable way in order to create long-term value for all stakeholders.
